About OMTA

The Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA) is a professional organization of independent and collegiate music teachers committed to excellence in teaching.

The Linn Benton chapter serves Corvallis, Albany, and neighboring areas. Most of our members are piano and organ teachers, voice teachers, strings teachers, composition teachers, and chamber music coaches, but our membership is not limited to just those. Contact us for more information about finding the right teacher for you.

Our teachers and programs emphasize a well-rounded music education. Besides repertoire, lessons may include music theory, sight reading, rhythm reading, composition, jazz, and improvisation.

Students who study with an OMTA teacher have the benefit of many opportunities, such as festivals, recitals, local and national competitions, and scholarship auditions. They also have the option of participating in the OMTA Syllabus program––a graded, adjudicated curriculum of study.

Teachers who join OMTA have many member resources available to them, including programs, workshops, conferences, publications, networking opportunities, and business help, such as insurance and technical advice.
